Description:
Here's a great .30 GOV'T '06 shooter grade in the fabulous Pre War Model 70. S/N 39*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1941. There are a few details that take it out of the true collector's realm, but it is a very solid and strong rifle with decent eye appeal, uncut and uncracked stock, along with perfect mechanics and a minty bore. Most of the metal is 95% other than the floorplate which shows about 50-60%. The Varnish/wood is 80% or so, with a small plug repair from an apparent factory inlet of an originally issued full block Lyman 48 receiver sight. The peep sight in place at this time is a period Redfield 70 series of similar superb quality. Aside from this small wood repair there are 2 metal discrepencies from original, those being one drill hole in the top of rear receiver bridge (pre wars were only drilled on front ring, no exception) and there is a nicely ground scallop at the base of bolt handle for scope clearance while cycling action. An overall perfect hunting rifle that you can still be proud of, and not that much over half price of a pristine example!
