Description:
This is a minty and beautiful all-original Smith & Wesson Military & Police Model 10-5 .38 Special revolver manufactured in 1964. This Model 10-5 is as clean as they come, with the beautiful gloss-blue factory finish rating 99%. The only deduction keeping this Smith from being perfect is an extremely faint drag-line around the cylinder that is only visible under close inspection in bright light. As you can see from the pictures, this extremely faint drag-line does not detract any appreciable amount from the pristine overall look of the gun. The factory case colors on the trigger and hammer are flawless and bright, rating 100% with no wear or defects visible. The bore in the 4" inch barrel is mirror-bright and perfect, showing sharp lands and grooves throughout the rifling and with no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible. The 6 chambers of the fluted cylinder are equally as perfect with no visible wear or imperfections. The front face of the cylinder looks like-new, and the rear star on the cylinder shows ZERO wear or marring. All of the factory markings on this Smith are crisp and clean, and all of the screw heads on the gun look unturned with perfect slots. The factory checkered American Walnut "Diamond" grips on this M&P Model are just like the rest of the gun, in like-new excellent condition. The checkering is crisp and free from any soiling, and both grip panels are free from any cracks, chips, gouges, repairs, or major damage. Both factory grip panels are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the grip frame with no wiggle. The right grip panel is stamped with the matching serial number to the gun, as is proper for this vintage and model. The internals of this Model 10-5 are just as pristine and free from wear as the exterior. The action on this Smith is extremely smooth, slick, and perfectly "in time". This action really has to be felt in person to truly appreciate how nice it is. Even with today's more advanced technology and extreme close tolerances used in manufacturing they cannot replicate the feel of a hand-fit and tuned action by one of the master gunsmiths at S&W in the 1960's. All of the controls on this Smith are in like-new, 100% perfect working order, and the trigger breaks nicely in either mode of operation. This S&W Military & Police Model will perform just as well today as the day it left the factory 57 years ago. This gun has not even begun to be "broken in" yet. If you are looking for a true investment-grade Smith & Wesson Model 10, this 1964-production example would be a superb choice. It would be extremely hard to upgrade from this one!
