Payment Types Accepted: Cash, Postal Money Orders, Certified Checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover ~ NO CC Fee Description: L L Hepburn rifle/shotgun over-under .36\12ga. Manufactured in Colton, New York, between 1858 and 1882. Lewis Hepburn would work with Remington and Marlin later in his firearm manufacturing career. Mr. Hepburn holds 22 patents for firearms and was an excellent gun maker and marksmen in his own right. Please note the only markings are on the barrel “L.L. Hepburn Colton N.Y.” The barrels are 30 inches long, there are 2 rear sights, the front sight is missing (can be repaired). The first rear sight moves and is well made. The second rear sight is a Tang peep sight, threaded to the upper tang. There is an old repair to the right side hammer and a repair or period replacement to one of the wooden ram rods. This is simply an elegant over under with a lovely ornate patch box. There are understated engravings throughout (even on the butt plate). It is well crafted with very fine wood and excellent fit & finish. Note some of the subtle curves, where the barrels meet the receiver and the wood furniture. May have been made for someone of smaller stature due to the shorter length of pull. Or, possibly due to a slightly shorter rear stock. A beautiful firearm of that pre/post Civil War era.
