Description:
This Colt-Burgess rifle is serial number 488 of only 1219 round barrel variations made. The total production of both round and octagonal versions was 3775 between 1883 and 1885. Winchesters threat to make a Handgun resulted in a Gentleman’s Agreement, and Colt discontinued the Lever Action Burgess rifle.
This rifle is in tight excellent working condition with a strong sharp bore, having some slight roughness in the grooves. Excellent without being bright.
It is an older restoration that remains an excellent example of a rare rifle. It has been polished and re-blued, as can be seen in the photos. As you see the Colt Logo is missing from the left side of the receiver. Some minor scratches are on the receiver and there are some spots on the right front side of the barrel. It looks like something splashed on it and removed the finish in tiny spots.
The wood has been replaced with nicely figured walnut but the cleaning rod recess was not drilled in the butt stock.
I don’t mean to under sell this rifle, but I do want to point out any flaws in this otherwise great looking rare old rifle.
Serial number 488 of the least common variant of a rare rifle made by Colt will find a home in either a Colt or Winchester collector’s rack.
For those collectors desiring perfection this rare rifle is a prime candidate for a Turnbull restoration.
It will be accompanied by the Colt Letter showing it was shipped to Hartley & Graham, N.Y. on Aug 16, 1883.

A signed valid FFL license copy either mailed or emailed will be required for shipment to only the license address.

RETURNS:
Returns must be made within 3 days of receipt. They must be received in exactly the same condition with no parts exchanged. If it has been altered, damaged, or fired, a refund will not be made. Packing, shipping and insurance cost will not be refunded. All layaway purchases are returnable for merchandise credit only.
PAYMENT:
Bank check, Personal check, and Money Orders are preferred. Visa and MasterCard are accepted with a 3% processing fee. For Visa and MasterCard orders please provide the account number, code number, expiration date, name on card, phone number and card billing address. This information can be phoned in, or E-Mailed. All orders must be paid in advance, C.O.D. orders are not accepted. Checks, both Bank and Personal must clear before the order will be shipped, usually a 2 week delay.
LAYAWAYS:
A 20% deposit is required. Balance is due in 60 days. Deposits are non-refundable and are forfeited after 60 days. Layaway sales are returnable for merchandise credit only.
SALES TAX:
Pennsylvania state sales tax is 6% for in state purchases. The payment of other states sales tax, if applicable, for shipped items is the buyer’s responsibility.
