Description:
This Winchester Model 62 .22 short rifle is an original  Five Spot Shooting Gallery gun, and is so stamped Five Spot in a circle on the stock. The identical serial number of 20846 dates this rifle to 1935. The "5"-Spot Short Range Gun Clubs of America, Inc. were licensed shooting galleries that started operation in 1935 and 1936.  They were located in various parts of the United States.  They offered a reward of $5 to one who in three shots obliterated a figure 5 on the target. The player used a regular .22 short caliber rifle. The stock features "'5/SPOT" burned on the left side and the marking is painted red and white. This company burned their logo on the Winchester Model 62 stocks as a form of advertising. The total quantity of these "5 Spot" models is not known. They are extremely rare, very collectible. They don't often come up for sale.  I've seen them sell in the $3,000 to $5,000 range. This one is from my personal collection.
The rifle is in very good condition. The original wood finish is excellent, no cracks, chips or repairs, fits tight, no movement and the original bluing is turning to a dark  gray patina .The letter and number stampings are clear and sharp Action is fast and smooth, safety is also functional on half-cock. The bore is shiny, shows rifling and no sign of corrosion or pitting.  The magazine tube features a unique triangular shaped loading port which was designed to accommodate the pre-loaded ammo tubes for faster reloading. Rifle is in very good condition and was well taken care of. If you are a collector of Winchester pump .22's, this is the one to have and would make a great addition to your collection.
In addition I will include a collectible box of 250 Remington Spatter-Less 22 Short Gallery  15 grain Special Composition bullets. These were made especially for Gallery shooting. Box is like new, sealed  in plastic and never opened. I will also include two very rare Winchester speed loading tubes, that have the original Winchester brand markings.
