Stevens in Maastricht, Netherlands. Initially designed by Edouard de Beaumont, this rifle led an interesting life with many updates in the nearly 25 years of service. The Dutch Beaumont M71 began as a bolt action, single-shot, black powder rifle, adopted in 1871 by the Netherlands. Then updated in 1888 with the addition of the Italian Vatali magazine system. Before being replaced by the smokless repeating Dutch Mannlicher M95 in 1895. This Dutch Beaumont is in excellent condition with the 1888 update and is an all matching rifle. The bolt and magazine system functions prefectly for a +100 year old rifle. The white metal receiver and barrel are turning an aged patina. The bore is frosted but the rifling is sharp and we have no doubt this old rifle will fire without any issues. The arctic birch stock is in excellent shape with some of the sharpest cartouches we have ever seen. If your looking for a nice antique Dutch Beaumont Vitali to add to an antique military arms collection this Beaumont would be an excellent choice.
