Serial Number: 3837

What a beautiful Model 21 Tournament Skeet we present here, built in 1934 and documented with a Cody Firearms Museum factory letter.  This gun shipped with nicely figured wood with a checkered butt and “Tournament” comb, which was a trademark of the Tournament Skeet Grade Model 21’s.  This gun, sn3837 built in 1934, is in superb condition, having its metal finishes completely restored some time in the past and still retaining 100% historically correct finishes on all metal, and the wood having only a few light handling marks.  The wood appears to have the original factory finish.  The letter states the gun was returned in 1949 for a repair, though the notes are not legible.  It is likely that the second set of 28” IC/IM were added at that time, making this an extremely versatile Model 21 two-barrel set.  Considering almost all Model 21 guns have been restored at one time or another (even though the seller insists the gun is “original”) finding a gun that still matches the letter and looks nearly factory new is an event!  Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of superior strength and mechanical genius created under the micro-management of John Olin himself.  Model 21 guns are fully capable of shooting the most powerful loads available, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN.  From 1930 to 1934 Winchester had only built 2600 Model 21 guns most of them being Standard Grades.  Only a few hundred or so were Tournament Skeet Grade guns.  The Tournament Skeet Grade was only offered in 1934 and 1935 and is highly coveted by collectors and shooters alike. THIS TWO-BARREL SET IS A RARE FIND!  There are fakes out there with aftermarket stamps on the bottom of the receiver, so beware!  The only way to be sure is with factory records that document the gun as a Tournament Skeet Grade.  The factory letter documenting this gun is included with the purchase.  The letter indicates there may have been two guns built with the same serial number and is a bit confusing, but it does document this gun in particular.  The 26” barrels have perfect bores choked WS1/WS2 and are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun.  The same goes for the 28” barrels with the IC/IM chokes.  With two sets of barrels, one with open chokes and the other tighter, this is the perfect set for your upland pursuits and clay target games.  The set is housed in a canvas and leather case that is CUSTOM FIT TO THE GUN WITH ALL ACCESSORIES AND WINCHESTER TRADE LABEL WORTH $950.  Thanks for looking!
