Description:
This is a fine, civil war era, Colt Model 1851 Civilian Revolver. It has a 7.5" barrel with a very good bore. Serial #147358, and all matching including the wedge and walnut, one piece grip.
This revolver was manufactured in 1863. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line New York address, the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT", the left trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL," and the cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene. The cylinder has has the last 4 digits of serial #7358. . The loading lever is marked #7358. This classic Colt is Fitted with a smooth varnished one piece walnut grip. Condition is "Fine" and shows lots of original blue
and case coloring. The revolver has a blue/grey patina. The barrel retains 50% original blue finish and the frame and hammer retain 50% of the darkened original case colors. Much of the cylinder scene remains. There is some minor freckling (mostly on the sides of the barrel). The grip straps show an aged un-cleaned brass patina. The grip is very fine showing some minor pressure dents and scratches and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.
