.577 Nitro Express double rifle by George Bate. This full charge prewar English double rifle is regulated and proofed for 100 grains of Cordite and 750gr bullet. Rifle features a highly desirable reinforced frame with scroll engraving. The forend features an Anson style push button release, also known the Purdey style release. 27" Chopper lump, extractor, barrels with excellent bores. Rear express sight has one standing and four flip up sight blades. Barrel mounted sling swivel stud. The buttstock has rich color figured walnut, crisp checkering, metal grip cap, sling swivel stud, name plate and leather covered recoil pad. 15-1/4” length of pull. Weight is appropriate for a full charge 577 Nitro Express at 12lbs 12oz. Rifle balance is perfect, "between the hands”.
