Description:
Fox CE 20 gauge SxS shotgun circa 1924. This is truly an outstanding Fox shotgun..the beautifully engraved CE receiver retains over 80% original case colors, although slightly faded in some areas. 98% barrel blue and 95% oil finish on the stock and forearm. With very, very close inspection you will find some very light spots of surface rust on the barrels and the frame.
The 26” barrels weigh 2 lbs. 11 oz. with puts them just right for being the lightest #4 barrels that Fox offered. Both tubes are factory spec .615” bores and both chokes are (for some unknown reason) .030” extra full!
The Prince of Wales grip stock has a 14 1/8” LOP from the front trigger to the end of the factory butt plate; a 1 ½” DAC and 2 ½” DAH with just a “touch” of cast favoring a right-hand shooter.
Collect it and/or shoot it, this is a spectacular original example of what the late Michael McIntosh called “the Finest Gun in the World” in his book on the A H Fox.
