Description:
M1841 Mississippi Rifle made by Remington with lockplate dated 1852, classic pre-Civil War and Civil War period rifle musket.  This is a beautiful gun.  The stock is original finish, beautiful color with two strong cartouches, please see the photos!  Barrel bands (with inspection letters), trigger guard, patchbox and buttplate all brass.  Buttplate with "U.S." stamped in the brass.  Brass blade sight, the bayonet lug on the side of the barrel has been smoothed over, but clearly visible in the photos.  Traces of rifling in the barrel are still visible, but this was a well-used weapon and the barrel definitely shows it.  Proper and most likely original ramrod.  This is a heavily used, beautiful example of a Civil War used Mississippi rifle with gorgeous wood and all original.  Classic addition for a collection, wall-hanger, fireplace gun.
