Considered by a number of enthusiasts to be the best pump action shotgun ever the model 31 was offered by Remington to compete against the world-famous Winchester model 12, which had a 20 year head start on the 31. Regardless of your opinion on which gun was best, everybody agrees that the 31 was an exception pump action shotgun. This high-condition 20 is a great example of a model 31 and this is something of an unusual configuration. A) it is a 20 gauge (most were 12’s); B) the 28” full choke barrel is serial numbered to the receiver (many were replaced) and C) most importantly this is a “B” grade with designated the hand-cut checkered stock and forearm! (quite scarce). The only thing that I see as non-original on this gun is a coat of varnish was applied to the 14” lop buttstock sometime between manufacture date of November of 1939 and now. Excellent metal finishes with 96% original blue. Perfect mechanically. 6 lbs. 11 oz. $1,150.00 SN: 526894 SOLD |
