Description:

Desirable Early  four  Digit Serial Number Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver with Fluted Cylinder
Manufactured in 1861, this revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the full fluted cylinder. Many early production Colt Model 1860 revolvers with fluted cylinders were sold to southern dealers before the outbreak of hostilities in April 1861 and were used by Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. These revolvers appear in the first 8,000 serial numbers with total production around 4,000 and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields and back strap heel cut for an attachable shoulder stock. The trigger guard is brass, and the back strap is iron. The top of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT-." The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT." One of the cylinder flutes is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 10th 1850", Besides the cylinder, the serial number "3839" is also found on the frame, barrel, barrel wedge, trigger guard and back strap. There is a small letter "L" stamped on the left trigger guard shoulder. The barrel and cylinder are blue/grey patina , the loading lever and frame are a faded casehardening, and the grip straps are an un-cleaned  brass  Fitted with a one piece smooth walnut grip, that is originally numbered to the revolver. .44 cal. 7.5" barrel with
a very good strongley rifled bore.
The grip is very good with high edge wear, a few minor handling marks and a smooth  finish. Mechanically excellent. This is a very fine scarce, second  year production Colt Model 1860 Army!   Buyer  pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.  I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal Check, with shipping hold.   3% Credit Card Fee!  Three day, non-firing, non-disassembly, inspection period.
