Description:
Made around 1935, with the later ES340 features such as grooved fore end and checkered grip. Matching serial number bolt and buttstock. Original factory German Trolit brand butt plate. Original blueing is in remarkably nice condition, with only a few scattered minor nicks and blemishes. Adjustable rear sight looks like new. Fron sight ramp has some unfortunate scratches, from careless installation of a sight hood.
Unusually pretty and well-figured piece of walnut with well defined fiddleback from front to back. Nice, sharp, crisp checkering, crisp edges, proud of the metal. Looks even nicer in real life.
26-1/2" barrel has a beautiful, crisp, clean shiny bore and rifling. BUT...the muzzle has been back-bored1-3/4" by our gunsmith, to eliminate a slight ring-bulge; now is 24-3/4" effective barrel length. This was done to preserve the front sight ramp and original outward appearance.
Stock has undoubtedly had a few coats of hand-rubbed oil in its life, and we just added a light coat of rubbed-in boiled Linseed.
Ser# 1835xx made around 1935. 22LR caliber B-Series rifle, cock-on-open, 3-position flag safety, 2-stage trigger.
