Description:
I will be selling a few select rifles out of my personal collection. This one is a fine John Rigby & Co Boxlock Double Rifle in .500 Nitro Express (.500 3”). It has 25” Lother Walther barrels with quarter rib including one standing (50 yd) and one folding (100 yd) rear express sights with gold bead front sight. Features include dual triggers and ejectors, gold accents for caliber (quarter rib) and maker name as well as logo in trapdoor grip cap, mechanical safety, pancake style shadow lined cheekpiece, coin finished and heavily hand engraved receiver, and inetted rear sling swivel with barrel mounted front. The stocks are gorgeous exhibition grade, dark streaked, and highly figured black walnut with pistol grip rear stock and a lever release semi-beavertail forend. Both finely checkered. Quarter rib marked “500 NE” in gold inlay, Barrels marked “John Rigby & Co Paso Robles” on the rib, Receiver is marked “John Rigby & Co” in gold inlay, gold inlaid “SAFE” selector marking and gold inlaid Rigby logo in the trapdoor grip cap.
LOP is 15" to the front trigger and weight is 10.75 lbs. Overall VG+/Excellent condition showing some handling marks on the stock from limited use (see pics). Shoots accurately with Hornady ammo and handles extremely well.
