Description:
I will be selling a few select rifles out of my personal collection. This one is a very fine W.J. Jeffery big bore bolt action rifle in the venerable .500 Jeffery cartridge. This rifle features a double square bridge magnum action with flag safety with “SAFE” in gold and claw scope mounts installed with a Swarovski Z6 1-6x24mm scope. The 24-1/2” barrel has a quarter rib housing one standing and two folding leaf express rear sights regulated to 50, 100, and 150 yards respectively. The front sight is banded ramp featuring single bead and flip over moon sight. The engraving was executed by the master Marcus Hunt and features “Caliber .500 Jeffery” in gold ring on the floorplate, Gold serial number on the trigger guard and a finely detailed gold elephant on the grip cap (signed “MHunt”). The stock is an exhibition grade dark walnut with beautiful rich figure, pancake style cheekpiece, gold oval, two engraved recoil bars, and inletted rear sling swivel. Front sling swivel is properly barrel mounted.
LOP is 14-1/2" to the end of the traditional red recoil pad and weight is 12lbs scoped. Overall the rifle is in near new condition showing only some handling marks on the wood (see pics) but having been fired very little. This is an exceptional and rare example of a classic British big game rifle in a wonderful big bore cartridge executed by its namesake British maker. These don't come up for sale very often.
