What I'm listing here is a Savage 99F in the .22 Savage Hi Power Cartridge. Savage developed this in 1912, launching a 70gr bullet at 2800 FPS, they couldn't break the 3000 barrier until 2 years later with the .250-3000. Claiming in the adds of the day "The hi power could penetrate a half inch boiler plate with a half ton of energy," and "recoil so light that it has no disturbing effect or tendency to make a shooter flinch." I know this fella has made a bad day for a few skunks and porcupines. This one was built in 1921, the takedown function is tight. It sports the original windgauge rear sight with all numbers matching stock, forearm and butt plate. The barrel bluing is excellent and the receiver rust bluing is nice with no gray areas. All the screws are nice and not buggered. The bore is nice with light frosting and good rifling. Wood is average with bumps and scratches on the stock and a small chip on the toe. No tang cracks.
