Description:
Remington introduced their ultra successful 700 line in 1962, this fine example was made in the 2d yr of production in March of 63.
Only 575 were chambered iin the deluxe BDL iteration in 1963, this is one. It has had little if any use or wear, still has the front site hood, has no non factory holes and has not been modified in any manner that we can seel. Like many guns it was probably stored with butt down and it appears a small amt of moisture migrated up to cause minor loss of finish near the butt plate. Its prior owner applied a small amt of finish to seal the area described. There are two very small areas on the left side of forend wher finish has flaked off . Those who know Remingtons will recognize the shellac overspray on the aluminium butt plate as original..Metal is at or near 100% and there is no sign of handling on the floor plate or trigger guard and no loss o blue to barrel or receiver. The reciver has the factory cut a tthe top of the rear bridge as these early guns were designed to accept a WW11 style stripper clip; Subsequentl models did not have this feature.
For any serious Remington collectior who needs to fill a spot missing in their collection this might be the gun for you.
Althouh not advertised as such these early guns with 20" barrels have come to be known by collectors as "Carbines" By approx 1964 the standard barrel was lenghtened to 22"
Shipping with insurance is $ 59.00
