Unique Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine fitted with 20 inch barrel, full length tube magazine, walnut stock and forearm, saddle ring mounted to receiver, integral front sight, adjustable (elevation) semi buckhorn rear sight, blue finished, and chambered in .25-20 W.C.F. This 1905 vintage Saddle Ring Carbine was almost certainly sent back to Winchester in the late 1930's for a new barrel,, rear sight, magazine tube, and bolt assembly. The barrel is single proofed and has Pre-WW2 roll marks. The combination of earlier and later Pre-war features give this Winchester a very unique look. This Winchester is in very good condition, with the barrel, bolt and magazine tube retaining 98% blue. The receiver has lost most all of its finish having turned a silver/brown patina, most likely from flaking, which was common on Winchesters made during this period. The bore is excellent with bright sharp rifling, and the action is tight and functions perfectly. The stock and forearm are in fine condition, with minimal major handling marks.
