Description:
EARLY 1895 STANDARD RIFLE, .30 ARMY (.30-40 KRAG) CALIBER, 28" BARREL, WITH FACTORY LETTER, #29XXX, MADE 1901. The Cody Firearms Museum letter verifies the caliber and that it is a rifle. It further states that the serial number was applied January 31, 1901, was received in the warehouse February 14, 1901 and shipped August 30 1901. The receiver on this rifle is mostly gray with some very aged blue on the magazine and in the protected areas as well as on the bolt. Markings are all sharp and correct. The barrel is a very thinning blue mixing gray. Has the correct buckhorn and small blade front sights, the butt stock is fine and looks as if it has been lightly gone over, the forend is of the correct '95 style but is a replacement as it doesn't have the ebony wedge inlay in the schnable tip. The action is tight and the best part is that the bore is sharp and excellent! Overall good appearance for a 120 year old '95. Lots of life left in this one.
