What a great find we have here! This a Cody Firearms Museum documented, factory produced two-barrel set Model 21 Duck, with highly desirable 32” F/F barrels with factory 3” chambers and a set of factory 28” IC/M barrels. The Winchester Model 21 is an American icon in the double gun world. A strikingly handsome gun with the finest single selective trigger ever devised, gunners in the know have utilized the M21 in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure. If you need to shoot heavy loads, this is your gun! The Model 21 Duck is a special, highly sought-after Winchester. Shipped standard with the Winchester butt pad and 3" chambers, it was meticulously chambered, bored, and choked to provide deadly patterns at long ranges, with brutish strength to handle even the stoutest 3" Magnum loads. Most of these guns got used hard under harsh conditions, resulting in well-worn finishes. To find an all original, untouched Model 21 Duck with 98% -99% factory finishes is a rare opportunity. With less than 1500 Model 21 Ducks (including later labeled "Magnums") produced, the guns are seldom offered for sale and those that are offered have been restored or are well worn. This gun, sn25989 made in 1951 and documented in the accompanying Cody letter, is all of that...untouched factory original with over 98% metal and wood finishes and original in every way. Only a few light scuffs in the wood and a few light scratches in the receiver keep it from being a 99% gun! What a great gun, balanced nicely with well figured wood it is a nimble gun in hand. The 32" F/F barrels are perfect inside and out, with all factory chamber, bore diameter, chokes, and these barrels were almost never used! THEY STILL HAVE 100% FACTORY BLUE AND NO NOTABLE MARKS OR SCRATCHES. The 28” barrels retain 99% dark factory blue with a few light handling marks. The action shows a few scratches but a strong 98% factory blue with none of the usual flaking seen on these M21 guns. The Model 21 Duck came with a standard 13 5/8” LOP to the single selective trigger and this gun has nice stock dimensions (see the tables below). The mechanics are perfect on this gun as it is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. We stripped the action and forend iron to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned to remove old oil and grunge, brushed parts shiny clean, inspected all for integrity and function, lubricated all and reassembled. This is a $325 service in our shop. The screws are all clean and clocked, trigger is crisp and fully functional…this is a shooting machine waiting for the next adventure! The barrels have tight ribs, perfect mirror bores, both sets tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, with the top lever right of center. There are no cracks or splits in the wood and the wood-to-metal-fit is superb. We have housed this set in a canvas and leather case, CUSTOM FIT TO THE GUN TO PREVENT ANY MOVEMENT DURING TRANSPORT, with all wear areas protected by leather strips, a leather Winchester M21 trade label, snap caps, oil bottle, ebony cleaning rod, and cleaning jags. It is impressive when you open the lid to the case (an $1150 value). Everything about this gun is factory original…chokes, chambers, metal and wood finishes. This is very hard to find in today’s world, especially with a 70-year-old M21 Duck. A high condition M21 DUCK FACTORY TWO-BARREL SET is a fine investment tool and will go up in value as you enjoy its use. We have priced this one to sell and with the upcoming season it will not last long, so don't hesitate! Thanks for looking.
