Ansley H. Fox created a timeless, high quality, simply designed box lock at his A.H. Fox Gun Co. in Philadelphia, PA.  Most vintage side x side lovers are well-aware the 20ga. and 16ga. Fox guns are the most dynamic, lightweight, best handling American double guns ever created.  Best of all, the 16ga. guns were all built on the diminutive 20ga. frame.  This Fox A Grade, sn303595 made in 1937, is one of only 2500 Fox A Grade 16ga. guns ever made, with about 2200 remaining in existence due to loss and destruction, so there are few offered for sale.  Only 10% or so were ever made with the English style stock, or maybe a few hundred in existence.  IF YOU ARE ONE WHO LOVES STRAIGHT STOCKED UPLAND GUNS…THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN THE PERFECT LITTLE FOX 16GA.!  Straight gripped guns almost never surface for sale.  In this Fox we have a solid gun with excellent screws, factory 26” number 3 weight barrels factory choked IC/IM with mirror bores, factory bore diameter, 99% rich rust blue, double ivory beads, and lots of barrel wall thickness (see tables below for specs).  The ribs are tight, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever right of center…like a new gun.  Take a good look at the photos and you will see a truly gorgeous Fox A Grade that has everything going for it.  She is one of those guns that just looks “right”.  The wood figure and finish is stunning, the wood-to-metal fit is superb, the action retains 70% factory case color and the engraving is sharp and clear, …JUST A CLASSY LOOKING FOX!  Even the genuine Silvers pad has that aged look and is fit to perfection.  Search long and hard and you will not find another Fox A Grade 16 with all these great features.  What a great upland gun choked perfect for nearly any bird on the North American continent.  Weighing just 6 1/4lbs. you can carry this gun all day over hill and dale without getting “long arms” by the end of the day.  This is a gun with enough wear on it that you will not feel bad taking it afield and shooting your vintage gun at clay targets.  This is the epitome of an investment quality Fox with desirable features, and affordability.  Don’t miss this one.  It is priced as it’s condition warrants, and a deal on a collectible Fox.  Thanks for looking!

We employ full time gunsmiths on premises and can perform alterations to suit your needs within a few weeks of purchase. Common requests are: -stock bending to suit your particular requirements -addition of any specified butt pad to increase length of pull -alteration of chokes to suit your shooting preferences -lengthening of chambers and forcing cones -darkening stock color with penetrating stains -restoring any part of the gun including rust blue, charcoal blue, bone and charcoal case color, wood restoration and checkering recuts. If you like one our guns but it needs "tweaked", let us know and we can quote you a time and price. Some enthusiasts like the guns "as found" and others want them "just so". We often list guns as found and let the particular buyer choose how they want their gun to fit or look.
