Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: " This British Pattern 1856 type officer's percussion pistol has an 8"" smooth bore 68 caliber octagon barrel. It was most likely for an officer, possibly cavalry, in the Indian army which, after the 1857 Sepoy rebellion, was issued smooth bore arms only. The overall length is approx. 13.5"". The bore is good with very light roughness. The barrel has a blade front sight, a block India style rear sight, and military proof marks. It has a smooth mixed bright and brown. The lock, also bright and brown, is marked crown over VR at the tail, 1859 over ENFIELD at the center with a crown over broad arrow to the right and a small 8 even further right. The brass trigger guard, butt cap, combination nose cap and pipe and escutcheons have a smooth aged patina. The captured ramrod assembly is complete. The stock is fine with sharp edges, no chips or cracks, and very little wear. There is an interesting chain lanyard attached to the front swivel and butt cap loop. The action functions correctly. This is a nice example of an officer's Pattern 1856 type pistol that most likely saw service in India. SOLD Antique: Yes |
