Description:
"

The flintlock British New Land Pattern pistols were introduced circa 1802 and were produced in this configuration until about 1820. The overall length is approx. 15"". The 9"" round 65 caliber smooth bore barrel has a good bore with very light roughness. It has London crown over GR proofs on the right rear and what appears to be a 12 followed by a crown over an indistinct mark on the right. The barrel tang is stamped with a crown. The barrel, lock, and other metal parts have a smooth gray-brown patina. The lock is marked with the large crown over GR at the center with a crown and broad arrow to the right and TOWER in an arc at the tail. The tail of the lock and center of the hammer have small areas of decorative engraving. The brass nose cap, trigger guard, butt cap, and side plate have a smooth even patina. The trigger guard bow is marked in large script OY over C over LO. The captured ramrod is complete. The stock is very good with a very well repaired crack on the right extending from the forward lock screw about 2"" to the barrel. It has the normal dents and dings of an issued gun, an expert repair at the ramrod channel inlet, and a groove, probably for a lanyard, to the rear of the trigger. The action functions correctly. This is an affordably priced nice looking example of the New Land Pattern flintlock pistol.
