Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: " With the exception of the lock, this flintlock pistol appears to be an original U.S. Model 1816 pistol made by Simeon North. The overall length is approx. 15"". The 9"" round 54 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fair dark bore with some roughness. The barrel is marked P over US at the breech. It shows evidence of reconversion. All the metal has an even brown patina. The lock is slightly shorter and narrower than the Model 1816 lock, and the stock has been expertly filled to fit it. The lock has three Arabic characters which may be numbers. The sear spring is a coil spring replacement. The stock is good with light usage dents and ding, a little missing wood on the right at the band and barrel, and no other chips or cracks. There is no visible cartouche. The action works with the exception that the springs are weak and the hammer can be released with a trigger pull at half cock. This unusual pistol probably saw service in an Arabic country into the 20th century. SOLD Antique: Yes |
