Winchester's Model 42 was the first slide-action developed to fire .410 shells. On the surface, it is similar to the design of a Model 12, just reduced in size for a smaller load. The Model 42 was initially marketed as "Everybody's Sweetheart", or the "Greatest Little Shotgun in the World", both references implying the lightweight design could benefit women, children or anyone blessed with the opportunity to wield it. The Model 42 is an enjoyable shotgun for all, and a timeless American classic with increasing value.
