First introduced as "The Most Perfect Repeater" in 1912, the Winchester Model 12 is a refined edition of the legendary Model 1887 by Browning. The Model 12 would become Winchester's first hammerless pump-action shotgun, and helped set the standard for pump-actions going forward. A tilting bolt, inertia slide lock and under-barrel tubular magazine are also incorporated in this design. Winchester's serial number database indicates that the year of manufacture for this shotgun was 1948. The historical context of this model and its role in setting the stage for future shotgun technology contribute to its rising value as a collectible.
