Description:
Antique SAMUEL NOCK of LONDON .44 Cal PERCUSSION Turn-Barrel Pocket Pistol

Nephew to Famed Gunmaker HENRY NOCK

Here we present a small antique S. Nock of London Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1840s in London, England. Samuel Nock was the nephew of famed innovative gunmaker Henry Nock and apprenticed under him. He was also an accomplished gunmaker and worked through the transitional period from flintlocks to percussion systems. He served as a royal gunmaker to the English monarchy from King George III in 1805 up to Queen Victoria starting in 1837. He died in 1851.

This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of London, Paris and Liege during the early to mid-1800s. These style pistols are small, light and simple. It can rightly be compared to Henry Deringer’s namesake in the United States, though this design had the benefit of the turn-off barrel for toolless reloading.

The overall condition is very good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape. The grip is seated firmly at the frame with expected wear from use. Nice floral engravings on the frame and “NOCK” can be read on the left side. “D-N11147” is probably an old British registration number marked atop the barrel. A really nice little pistol in .44 caliber from a notable maker!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2-1/2 inches.

Caliber: .44 percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
