ARMY REVOLVER CIRCA 1863. 6 shot single action with 8” octagon barrel having the early first style nickel “cone” style front sight similar to the sights seen on the Beals and Old Model Army revolvers. . Serial numbered in the 44,xxx range and one of the first ten thousand Remington New Model’s issued. Very good overall and all original and matching. Metal with battle wear but has a very pleasing crisp dark original brown patina. Barrel address worn with only tiny bits remaining. Grips with the original finish and excellent “RH” script cartouche. All major parts with correct sub inspection letter stamps. Perfect very tight working order and good bore and rifling. All of the first type New Model Army’s saw heavy Civil War use unlike the later second type most of which were never issued and are usually encountered with lots of if not all of the blue remaining.
