Description:
Offering a pair of finely carved Ivory African elephants from a long time collector of Carved Ivory.
These are the largest of the elephants that I acquierd. Detail is amazing from the eyes and ears, down to the toes and tails.
You just do not see this in more modern carvings. Cross hatching is evident and no isues. Both have tucks
and a nice narural patina and normal signs of ageing.Trunks are up (sign of good Luck).
Picture #2 shows a natural hairline caused from a lack of moisture in the air. Cross hatching is very evident on
these pieces. In picture 4 the small carving is to give you a sense of size on the pthers. He is not included.
You just do not find these larger elephants. I saw one at an antique mall and it had sold within a week.
They have a very cool l feel when held and a nice weight.
