Description:
Serial #10648 / 25227, .303 British, 30 1/4" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a "BSA Co." marked rifle, with stacked rifles logo on the knox form. The metal retains 80-85% of the original blue finish that is blending into a smooth, dark plum-brown patina with some silvering along the edges, projections, and bearing surfaces. Some patches of thin freckling are also visible along the top of the "SUPERIOR NICKEL STEEL" marked barrel. The matching bolt is equipped with a safety, and has a mostly bright gray body with some streaks of darker freckling. The forward volley sight is still present, the front sight is equipped with protective wings, a windage adjustable 1800 yd back sight is fitted to the barrel, and a rare, BSA Tippin’s patent folding aperture sight is mounted on the receiver. The walnut stock and forend have numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered about the added military oil finish, and a previous owner’s initials are engraved on the buttplate tang: "T.D.D." A correct magazine is fitted, and extensive commercial Birmingham proofs are present. This is a very nice Long Lee, in fine plus condition, that would make a great addition to any collection of British military match rifles. FFL or C&R
