Description:
This case appears to be one of a kind.  The case is 50 in. long, 8 in. at the butt, 6 in. at the waist and 4 in. at the tip. This case is extreme high quality in the materials used and the design. American made with all natural American components- leather and sheep skin. Without success, for over 10 years I have looked online for another comparable.  Speaking to the people at Boyt, they have never heard of one with this total head to toe design. Yet, it was manufactured by Boyt Harness Co. 72 years ago- see Boyt tag and mark in photos.  None of those 1950 people are currently at Boyt and their records were lost in a resent-I think 2014- fire. As you should be aware, Boyt manufactured the highest quality leather products for the U.S. military from WWI forward.  The leather of this case is heavy gauge American cowhide.  It has already lasted one lifetime.  I found two Boyt cases in my father’s estate about 10 years ago. They were properly conditioned during his life and have been so during mine.  The inside material appeared to me to be sheep skin. I confirmed with Boyt that the lining of the cases during this period was sheep skin. You can see the interior of the case is near perfect. In the year 2000 I asked Boyt to replace the zipper and they did so without cost to me. Looking closely at the design, you can see from the Boyt i.d. mark in the tip of the case, that it was made and designed by Boyt. The year of manufacture, “50”, is stamp near the Boyt mark.  The Boyt tag, on the inside of the case, has the date on the backside of the tag. You can see that the design is not machine uniform. The form of all features has minor deviation. It appears to be hand tooled into the leather. That was the American standard for Boyt 70 years ago.  One side of the leather has a spot from an unknown source.  The condition of the leather is strong throughout.
