Description:
The item for sale is a Colt Single Action US Cavalry revolver. It is 45 caliber with a 7 1/2" barrel. This is a matching number Colt (frame, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder). David F. Clark (DFC) was a principal sub-inspector for the government and inspected Calvary Model revolvers from 1880 to 1887. He was the principal sub-inspector for this revolver in 1884. Captain Frank Heath (FH) served as Ordnance Inspector for the U.S. Army from 1884 to 1885. He was the ordnance inspector for this revolver. The DFC inspectors stamp can be found on the barrel, frame and cylinder. David Clark's cartouche is also on the grips with the cartouche of Frank Heath. This is very scarce as Captain Frank Heath served as an inspector for a very short time. The grips also have the date 1884 stamped on them which is also scarce as many did not get date stamped. The finish on the revolver can be seen in the photos. The condition of the grips are very good with cartouches that are present but faint. The butt has "20" stamped which is probably a rack number. Mechanically the revolver is excellent.with the classic Colt "4 clicks".when cocking.and a nice bore. This is an antique and does not require a FFL copy and can be shipped directly to the buyer. Please include $40 to cover shipping and insurance.
