Description:
1917 OCTAGONAL Barrel WINCHESTER Model 1894 RIFLE 32 WINCHESTER SPECIAL C&R

WORLD WAR I Era Repeating Rifle in Scarce Caliber!

Here we present a C&R Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, made in 1917 in New Haven, Connecticut. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm again lies with John Moses Browning, who lent his extensive design talents to a large number of weapon types throughout his career. The Model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder and was developed as a hunting rifle. Over 7.5 million were produced from 1894 until 2006. While various cartridges were supported throughout the run of the gun, the .30-30 Winchester became its staple. In practical use, the Model 1894 became a favorite for general shooters and hunters alike. To this day, it remains a deer hunting favorite, and, in all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.

This Model 1894 features a 26-inch octagonal barrel in .32 Winchester Special—a great cartridge and still available. The .32 WS and the .30-30 WCF were both developed from the .38-55 WCF and the .32 features a .321 caliber bullet as opposed to the .308 bullet of the .30-30. There is the standard, barrel-mounted buckhorn rear sight, but also a receiver tang-mounted adjustable peep sight. The front sight blade was modified to a more refined bead. The butt stock and plate are the shotgun style.

The overall condition is very good. The barrel and magazine retain their factory blue finish. The action is strong and crisp. Bright bore throughout with sharp rifling. This example has retained a solid stock with honest wear. This is a really neat Winchester rifle that would still be great in the woods!
