Description:
A 1959 Southgate,Ca. Weatherby Mark V custom grade in 270 Weatherby magnum. The Southgate Mark V Weatherbys were only built in 1958 and 1959 before production was moved to J.P.Sauer in West Germany. This rifle is in original condition retaining 95% of the original blue and 99% of the original wood finish. The 24" barrel has a mint bore that shows very little use. There are a few light scratches on the exterior of the barrel due to poor storage by the estate I bought it from. The stock is highly figured and shows no wear at all. The stock has a factory recoil pad and comes with an original alligator skin sling and QD swivels. The bottom of the forend has a factory inlay with the initials BJD and the flootplate is engraved "Weatherby Custom".The rifle also has a rare Weatherby 2.5x10 German made scope installed with Buehler bases and rings. The scope is bright and clear and ready for use.This is an all original outfit from 1959 that would make a great addition to any Weahterby collection and a great all around hunting rifle.C&R eligible.
