Description:
"

The Model 1881 MKII was used for only a few years with this revolver seeing service in Australia. The overall length is approx. 11.5"". The approx. 5.75"" round 476 Enfield caliber barrel has an excellent, bright bore with light frosting in the grooves. The revolver retains approx. 90% of its original dull military blue finish with the cylinder turning brown. The barrel has a large blade front sight with the frame having an extended notch rear sighting groove. The right rear frame is marked with a crown over VR over ENFIELD over 1884. over II.. The right forward frame has opposing broad arrows (withdrawal from military service) with a crown over E over 1 inspection stamp to the rear. The barrel assembly, frame and cylinder have matching serial numbers. The butt cap and hammer have a broad arrow over WD (War Department). Each chamber has the expected proof stamp. The grips are good with numerous usage dents and dings but no cracks or chips. The left grip is stamped N.S.W. (New South Wales) over No 39. The right grip has opposing broad arrows and GAOLS (Jail). The backstrap is stamped GAOLS No 39 (Jail, gun number 39). The action functions correctly in single and double action. This rarely seen big top break Model 1881 MkII revolver is a key element in any British military pistol collection.
