Description:
An interesting 19th century back action percussion muzzleloader, unmarked American Plains frifle with a bore measurement of about .430" and very progressive 19th century strong rifling. Possibly a common caliber of the 19th century of .40cal. The 32" round barrel has sights that may have been changed at one time, and the breech area has a couple of dents where a proof mark may have been removed, as often rifle barrels were imported from England during the 19th century. The lock has no markings and the set triggers work well. The Stock is a dark colored hardwood that may have had added finishes at one time. The opposite side of the lock is an inletted copper heart , and the furniture is a dark, mellow aged brass. Comes with a hardwood ramrod, and the brass trigger guard has a riveted/ added finger rest done period time. The clean out chamber screw looks very old. This older rifle may clean up better. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.
