No question this is a fine example of German engineering and craftsmanship. The 20 Gauge Merkel 147 EL made in Germany is an upgrade SxS with select wood, hand engraving, and an appropriately sized frame for a 20 Gauge SxS. This configuration is highly sought after. Features are: 28” Barrels, 2 ¾ and 3 inch chambers, weight 6 pounds 4 ounces, five Briley thin wall chokes (Skeet, Improved Cylinder, Light Modified, Modified, Full), Pistol Grip, Single Selective Triger, Scalloped Action with Side Clips, Greener Crossbolt, Automatic Ejectors, Automatic Safety, Merkel Buttplate, Splinter Forearm, Screws are Engraved and Timed, Wood to Metal and Metal to Metal Fits are Excellent, Drop at Comb 1 1/2 “, Drop at Face at 5” is 2 1/16”, Drop at Heel 2 3/4”, Cast at Face is 1/16” Off at 5”, Cast at Heel is 1/8” Off, Length of Pull 14 7/8”, Flat Filed Rib with Metal Front Bead. The action is tight and in excellent condition with all ribs tight. The wood is in excellent condition except some minor lines on left side stock just below the checkering visible only with reflected light on them. Manufacture date Circa 2007.
