Description:
This is a very nice special order Winchester Model 1894 rifle in caliber 32-40, having a 26" round barrel, full magazine, special order shotgun butt with checkered steel butt plate and pointed "widow's peak" top toe, plain trigger, plain walnut stocks and standard open sights, blued and case hardened finish, serial number 662805, made in 1912 per the published Madis numbers.
CONDITION: Barrel retains 75% original bright blue. Magazine tube retains 85% original bright blue. Receiver has mostly flaked but has 10% bright original blue on the back of the receiver/upper tang behind hammer/lower tang. Traces of original case colors on hammer and lever. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, no extra holes, just light dings and scratches, never sanded or refinished, still proud to the metal, and retain 90% of the original varnish. Loading gate retains some of the original fire blue. Action is crisp and the half cock safety functions properly. Bore is very good to excellent, no frost, no pitting, still bright and shiny, just light wear to the rifling, should still spin a bullet just fine, has not been test fired and should be checked by a gunsmith before doing so. Original front and rear sights remain. Grades NRA Modern Very Good and will make a nice addition to your Winchester collection.
