Description:
DESCRIPTION: This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to purchase a Luger that would be the crown jewel of almost any Luger collection. s/n 14 may be the lowest serial number 1900 DWM Swiss Luger available for purchase in decades. The middle toggle link is of the familiar rounded-tail shape, as almost all early 1900 Swiss were modified to this shape. The gun has the usual .30 cal./7.65 mm tapered 4-3/4" barrel with bore in perfect condition, a drift-adjustable front sight, Swiss cross over the chamber, early style breech block, dished toggles with toggle lock and a v-section rear sight. The frame is unrelieved for the raised magazine follower and has a narrow grip safety, strawed sear bar and a 14 mm Type 1 checkered safety covering a polished safety area. The serial number is presented on the barrel, perpendicular (not parallel) to the bore axis, on the barrel extension lug, on the rear toggle link and on multiple small parats of the gun; the trigger is numbered on the left side and the takedown lever and magazine release button are similarly numbered on their right side. The walnut grips are unnumbered and are in perfect condition. There are proof marks on the middle toggle link and the underneath surface of the barrel. All markings are razor-sharp as are the lightening milling machine marks near the end of the frame, as expected in an original gun. CONDITION: The condition of this stunning Luger can simply be described as mint in and out. All strawed parts are perfect. Blue is 99.99% with just the tiniest amount of wear showing on the side plate leading edges. The barrel band is unmarked and unworn. The rear toggle imprint on the back of the frame shows the smallest of imprints, indicating that gun was fired at least once. Unfortunately, no original flat-button magazine is available. PROVENANCE: This gun has been verified as 100% original and appraised by noted Luger collector Ralph E. Shattuck, and has been in my personal collection since 1994.
