Description: ***  SOLD  ***  SOLD  ***  "Collector grade" 1965 (first year of production)  Savage 99PE Presentation Grade (serial # 1084104)  in the very desirable 284 Winchester with 22" barrel that remains in "mint" condition and unfired. The 284 Winchester is the most sought after of the three calibers that were offered, 284,308 & 243, in the 99PE. I have had seven PEs come through my shop over the last two years, six were in the 308 Winchester and finally this 284.  You are about to look at the "best of the best" when it comes to knock-out wood on a Savage 99. The wood on this PE is just beyond gorgeous and full of beautiful grain end to end. Look at the pictures !! The PE was manufactured from 1965 to 1970 and was one of the first factory engraved guns since the 99K in 1940. The satin silver finished receiver has full coverage, factory engraving with a mountain lion on the right receiver and a bull elk on the left receiver.  The Monte Carlo stock and forearm are made of highly figured American black walnut with fine hand cut checkering.
