Description:
Best Quality Pre-War(1930's) Verney-Carron SLE Heliduplex Pigeon Gun with non-automatic safety. This model, Verney-Carron's best offering before WW2, has highest quality 30" triple-proved chopper lump fluid steel barrels with factory 2 3/4"(70mm) chambers, sideclips with triple lockup including top extension similar to Webley Screw Grip, except the screw grip has a double bite on top extension and top of rear barrel lug. This is an extremely strong action. Southgate ejectors, all gold-plated lockwork in action and forend, hinged front trigger, beautifully engine-turned concave rib, superb relief scroll, vine and oak leaf engraving, and a highly figured French walnut straight grip stock with long guard tang to a leather-covered pad installed by Abe Chaber of Conn. Mr. Chaber, after working on this gun, stated that he felt it equal to any Big Four London shotgun he had seen in quality and workmanship, which is high praise from a man who has worked on the absolute best guns ever built. Barrel measurements as follows; Right: 0.724"diam., 9" wall .050", min. wall .031",choke .016" Left: 0.727" diam., 9" wall .045", min. wall .028", choke .027". This is a rarely seen model in wonderful mechanical condition with gorgeous 100% engraving and beautiful wood which proves the French could produce guns to easily rival the top English offerings. I also have an original V-C catalog from the 1930's that illustrates this model and shows all features that is included with sale. You won't find this level of build quality for three times the price in an English Best. Please contact me with any questions.
