Description:
Mauser Model 98 8mm Mauser bolt action German service rifle, manufactured in 1936 by JP Sauer (S/147 Code). The JP Sauer manufactured Mauser 98 rifles are widely considered to be the highest quality 98's produced during this period, and are highly desireable to collectors. This rifle maintains a matching barreled action, however the bolt, bottom metal, and stock assembly appear to be replacement parts from other rifles. The stock also has a duffle-cut, with no import marking on the rifle, indicating that the rifle was likely a bring-back for a US serviceman. Despite it's non-matching condition, the rifle has lots of potential as a restoration project, with a solid barreled action, a sturdy bolt, and some signs of use/age that can be remedied by a profession gunsmith if desired. The bore is in mostly good condition, with just a few small areas of shallow corrosion. Please refer to the photos prior to purchase. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a rare Mauser 98 rifle!
