Description:
Very desirable date as it's the first year of the war. The .58 cal. bore is very good with strong rifling. Metal is dark but mostly smooth with nice marked lockplate and the V P and Eaglehead are visible on barrel flat. Musket is all original except for the rear sight which I'm told is 1870's period. I took it off but can put it back on. Buttplate is US marked and triggerguard is turned around. One dealer said the Confederates used it that way???? Can easily be turned around. Ramrod is original also. Stock is good with minor dings and scratches with cartouche light but visible. US marked bayonet is fine with nice patina.Free UPS shipping.
