Sold...JD...A fine and rare Colt Frontier Six-Shooter circa 1890 chambered in 44wcf (44-40). The barrel is factory engraved "WRA Co." This Frontier was obviously engraved for an executive at Winchester Repeating Arms Co. There were supposedly a handful of these engraved for Winchester employees but they are seldom seen or come up for sale. All matching and in excellent mechanical condition with 4 audible and crisp clicks when cocking. Indexing and timing are perfect too with an excellent bore and cylinder. The original eagle grips also match. The engraving was done by a Master and looks to be the work of Ulrich. A fine and rare Frontier Six-Shooter with Winchester provenance. Colt Archive letter included specifics are...44-40...7 1/2 inch barrel...rubber stocks...blue/case color finish...shipped to Schoverling Daly & Gales New York January 15, 1890 in a shipment of 100 guns.
