CIVIL WAR SMITH PERCUSSION .50 CAL. U.S. CAVALRY CARBINE. 21 ¾” barrel. Early 1861-2 production with serial number in the 12,xxx range and matching. Well used, attic condition example old dark metal patina and stock and forend with many dents and scratches. Old minor hairline crack at left wrist which is easily repaired. Crisp maker’s address and patents on left side of frame. Excellent working order and good rifling with pitting and fouling. Should clean well if so desired. Many used by Illinois and West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry Regiments as well as many others. Came from a family with Indiana roots.
