This Krag Jorgensen Model 1899 Is a first year production 1899 Carbine. The Carbine's serial number is. 235557. It has the 22 inch carbine barrel chambered for the 30 Army [30-40 Krag]. The sights are the correct early style carbine sights for this model. The forend is also the early style without the hump to protect the rear sight. It also has the 1899 date with the inspector's initials in the box just above the trigger guard. This stamp is very clear and easy to read. This model 1899 carbine is the first carbine to be produced without the sling bar and ring. The stock and forend retain all of the original finish. There is no cracks or damage to the wood. This carbine has very fine bluing. The bluing would rate a 96% overall condition. The bolt has the high polish finish with no blemishes. The exractor has all of the nitre bluing intact. The barrel band and trigger guard retain all of their high polish blued finish. The bore is in very good condition with no frosting. The action works properly and the shells feed correctly into the chamber. This is a very high condition original Model 1899 Carbine that has seen very little use or wear, This is a high grade collectable Carbine for the military collector to enjoy having in their collection!
