Description:
Smith & Wesson Pre-Model 17 K-22 Masterpiece Four Screw, made in approximately 1957-1958.  It is in 98-99% original condition and shows scant evidence of being fired, and is housed in the original factory box that is correctly numbered on the bottom of the tray.  It has a factory "Dry Fire Practice Target", but no other paperwork or tools.

It has matching serial numbers on the magna stocks and the back side of the extractor.   After owning this for more than 15 years, I noticed when taking photos for the listing that the cylinder is marked a few thousand numbers lower.   As this was made right at the end of the "soft fitting" period (when various parts such as cylinders and barrels were no longer stamped with numbers), perhaps the factory simply used up an available part.   The extractor is numbered to the frame, and the extractor had to be fitted to this cylinder.   The barrel is not numbered.  The polish and color of the bluing on the cylinder matches the rest of the revolver perfectly.     Should a knowledgable collector have another viable theory, please let me know; it is always a pleasure to learn.

This is a beautiful pre-model marked four screw K-22.  Please contact me via email, and I will respond promptly.   References provided upon request.
