This is one of the early, original Contenders in .221 Remington Fireball.  It is  almost L/N condition (see the left side of the forend  for slight streaks) except that there are no iron sights.  The barrel was broken in properly and cleaned thoroughly after each use. I am the original owner.
The .221 was introduced by Remington in their XP-100 pistol in 1963. The velocity out of a 10-3/4 in. bbl . was 2700 fps.   That velocity was unheard of in a handgun at the time, and to this day, has not been exceeded .  The cartridge was years ahead of it's time.  This gun shoots 5/8" groups for 5 shots at 50 yds. (test targets included).  It will be shipped UPS Next Day Air, only to a licensed dealer.  The original box is available but , if you want it, the shipping will be more due to the size of the box. When you purchase it we can talk over the shipping costs.
The gun comes with Leupold bases, which are attached to the bbl. with 4 screws, and Leupold rings, which have been hand lapped to eliminate any unnecesary stresses on the scope. It also has a hammer extension to make cocking easier with a scope installed. I will include 18 pieces of brass with it.
The  .221 is a difficult-to-find caliber.  Lapua, Norma, Nosler, and Remington do make brass for it.
You can slip this gun in a shoulder holster , and have a rig that can take varmits out to 300 yds. Pretty amazing.
Return Policy:
Please inspect the firearm at your FFL’s location, prior to completing the 4473 form.  If you are denied by the ATF and unable to complete the transfer,  or do not wish to keep the gun,  you will be responsible for the shipping cost back to us.
KNOW YOUR LAWS:
You are responsible for understanding the laws in your state. If you are unsure of what is legal or compliant in your state, please check with your firearms dealer and an attorney. If you reside in California, Maryland, or New York, be sure to check your local laws or call your local gun dealer before , to ensure this model meets the requirements for your state.  Caveat Emptor.
California Residents:
We realize that CA gun owners are in a tough position — essentially behind enemy lines — . . To properly process your transactions, we will need a valid FFL number as well as a 5-digit CFLC (California Firearms Licensee Check) number. You can call one of your local gun dealers if you have any questions about FFL or CFLC numbers. Please have this information available at the time of purchase to expedite the process.
Taxes and shipping are in addition to the price, and will be calculated at the time of order.  Thank you for your interest.
