Description:
Fine early Charles Daly Diamond Quality 16ga gun likely made around 1905 with beautiful 26" Herringbone Damascus barrels. The gun made with splinter forend, checkered double triggers, auto ejectors, round knob pistol grip with carved horn cap, and checkered horn buttplate. Stocks are tastefully checkered as seen in the photos.
Gun is lavishly engraved in near full scroll coverage with well executed game scenes on bottom and trigger guard.
Overall, the gun remains in fine all original untouched and as found condition. Barrels retain about 80% original pattern, and bores are mostly bright and shiny with only a couple of minor beginning pits in front of the right chamber. Stocks are excellent, all original, and sound and retain about 90% original finish. Checkering is excellent. Action retains about 40% nice original case color. Screws are excellent and mechanics are crisp.
These Diamond quality guns some of the finest of the Golden Age and when studying this gun, you can see why. These are great and durable guns and this one is delightfully light weight and as found totally original.
